Email Delivery Guidelines
United Online's decision to include a domain on our trusted list is made solely at the discretion of United Online. Some of the criteria we take into consideration involve:
- Has the domain authority provided the information requested in our online form?
- Have we received complaints from our members about spam originating from the concerned domain?
- Is the domain sending bulk mail? Is it an opt-in list?
- Does the mail have a valid unsubscribe mechanism? Does the mail contain valid physical contact information such as postal address and/or phone number?
- Do we have the domain's contact information in order to facilitate unsubscribe requests from our members?
- Has the domain been blocked by United Online in the past?
- Does the mail adhere to our Terms of Service?
United Online does not authorize the use of its proprietary computers and computer network to accept, transmit or distribute unsolicited bulk email sent from the Internet to our members. United Online will consider refusing connections from servers based on criteria including, but not limited to, the following:
- Are dynamically assigned or residential IP addresses being used to send mail?
- Is the system secure from open relays, open proxies, open routers, etc.?
- Is the domain or IP listed in SBL (http://www.spamhaus.org/)
- Are we experiencing a high bounce failure rate?
- Have we received spam complaints from our members implicating the domain or IP?
- Have our spam filters been triggered in any way?
NOTE: Removal from the block list does not imply trusted status to a domain or server.
Nothing in these guidelines is intended to grant any right to send or transmit email through United Online's computers and computer network. United Online's failure to enforce this or any other policy in all cases does not amount to a waiver of United Online's rights.
